A D30 Christmas: Walking Alongside South Sudanese Communities / Un Natale D30: camminando accanto alle comunità del Sud Sudan

(Scorri in Basso per la versione in italiano!) Welcome (or welcome back) to a new D30 fundraising! 💥If you don't know what D30 is, take a look at the previous post here:  https://d30initiative.blogspot.com/2025/04/what-is-d30and-where-does-it-come-from.html 🎄It’s the third Christmas I’m spending down under here in Australia, and I still haven’t quite adjusted to the fact that Christmas comes with sunshine. Instead of heavy coats and snow, it’s beach days and summer heat. The first time I spent Christmas sweating through lunch rather than shivering in the cold, though, I was somewhere very different. I was in South Sudan, stuck with COVID alongside a small group of unlucky, but extraordinary, people. I had been living and working there for a little over two years, and that Christmas remains etched in my memory. And South Sudan is where, virtually, this year’s D30 Christmas fundraising will take us. Landlocked in the heart of East Africa, South Sudan is officially the youngest cou...

(Scorri in Basso per la versione in italiano! Con aggiornamenti su quanto raccolto!) Welcome to the First D30 Fundraising Appeal! 😻 I'm so excited to share with you the very first fundraising event of D30 initiative,  and to introduce an organisation that's close to my heart: DAIA (Development Association for Integrated Activity) , a grassroots, fully locally-led organisation working with communities in Tamil Nadu, South India. I first came across DAIA’s incredible work during my time with International Needs Australia (INA) , where I had the privilege to collaborate with Mrs. Hilda John , DAIA’s Executive Director, on a project supporting women and children living on the margins of society in Tuticorin. Over the past year and a half, I've gotten to know Hilda personally—her story, her unwavering dedication, and her tireless work through DAIA, the organisation she has committed her life to leading. Hilda began her journey as a civil engineer in India, but found her true...

(Scorri in basso per la versione in italiano!)    Hi there! When it comes to fundraising for grassroots projects, I have three core priorities: transparency, accountability, and efficiency . 1. Transparency My first priority is being fully transparent about how funds are collected and spent. I treat every contribution with the same care and attention as I would my own, and I always explain—clearly and in simple terms—where the money goes and why. 2. Accountability Staying true to the goal of supporting grassroots, local organisations, I commit to keeping every contributor informed about the goals, progress, and outcomes of each specific fundraising initiative. If challenges arise or plans change, I’ll communicate that openly. 3. Efficiency As an individual fundraising on a small scale, I commit to passing on 100% of donated funds. The only potential deductions are direct costs related to payment processing—such as bank charges, platform fees, or currency exchange—depending on ...

(Scorri per la versione in Italiano! ) Hi! wondering what D30 is? Have a look below! D30 is simply a tool—a channel that allows me to share with more people the projects and individuals I come across, to shed light on the issues I encounter, and to connect others with the people I’ve had the privilege to meet firsthand. It’s also a tool for you: a way to access stories and meet people through my eyes and ears, offering a glimpse into parts of the world and their challenges that you might not otherwise reach as easily. Through D30, I hope to share a piece of my journey with you—and to raise funds for grassroots, community-oriented, and locally-led initiatives that are making a real difference in the lives of many. The roots of D30 trace back to the last few years, during which I’ve been raising funds now and then for different grassroots projects—mostly connected to the volunteering or work I found myself involved in, whether supporting refugees on the move along the Balkan route or res...
